History

Electa Chapter # 20 use to meet at 4358 West Monroe on the second floor every third Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Brother Richard Thurman Grandmaster acquired the property at 8220 South Western Avenue and Electa Chapter #20 came home and started meeting on third Sunday at 3:00 p.m. and was adopted by John G. Jones Lodge #7 on March 7 th 1981 History; John G Jones was born November 9th 1849 and he died June 7th 1914 and in 2002 the Illinois Congress dedicated a memorial wall at Oak Wood Cemetery located 1035 East 67th Street Chicago, Illinois
On March 24, 1881, the Supreme Court of Illinois admitted Jones to the Illinois State Bar and he was
later elected State Representative of the 5th District of Cook County Illinois. John G. Jones was a
member of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, F. & A.M., of the State of Illinois. He was
initiated, passed, and raised in John Jones Lodge No. 7. This lodge was named after his uncle, John
Jones. John G. Jones served as Master of this Lodge and was elected Grand Secretary in 1873 &
1874 and served as such until being elected Deputy Grand Master in 1875.
John G. Jones was not re-elected Deputy Grand Master thereafter, but became very active in
Scottish Rite Masonry. In 1877 John G. Jones was instrumental in the organizing of the John Jones
affiliations of Grand Lodges within Chicago with 27 state. (Coil’s Masonic Encyclopedia page 439

In 2014 Sister Ursula K. Williams Worthy Matron, honored Sister Taylor with the badge of honorary
member which excluded her from chapter dues.
In 2015 Sister Pearl Moore Traylor was recognize under the leadership of Tonia Burrell Pace Grand
Worthy Matron, as Honorary Grand Matron of Queen Beatrice Grand Chapter with making her free of
all Grand indebtedness.
In 2016 Sister Pearl Moore Traylor retired from the Order of the Eastern Star after serving 36 years in
the order as a dedicated Servant.1980-2016 under Sis. Kimberly N. Stokes Worthy Matron.
In 2017 the chapter suffered a hard blow with the passing of Sister Pearl Moore Traylor she was an
active member that served in all the upper houses and loved to travel. In the Daughter Sphinx where
she served for 26 years as Grand Worthy Matron of Alpha Court #7 Daughters Of Sphinx from 1983-
2009 she live and cherish being a Daughter of Sphinx, rest our sister.
On September 24, 2017 Worthy Matron Kimberly N. Stokes had to make a hard decision to send a
letter of withdrawal to John G. Jones #7 due to low membership and to allow the chapter to move
forward and continue to grow, it was bittersweet.

• In 1992 Dorothy Whorley was elected to pasha Grand Council Daughters of Sphinx as Grand Worthy Matron
• In 2006 Sister Ursula K. Williams was appointed by Queen Beatrice Grand Chapter as Grand Warder from 2006-2016
• In 2012 Heroine Ursula K Williams was elected as Most Ancient Matron of Patterson Court #4 from 2012-2015
• In 2015 Lady Ursula K. Williams was elected as Grand Chief Counselor of N’ZINGA Grand Council from 2015-2022
• In 2016 Sister Ursula K. Williams was elected to Associate Grand Worthy Matron from 2016-2018
• In 2016 Sister Kimberly N. Stokes was appointed as Grand Warder by Queen Beatrice Grand Chapter from 2016-Present
• In 2015 Sister Kimberly N. Stokes was elected to Rosebud Grand Circle #1 as Grandmother Advisor and current Deputy
• In 2022 Sister Ashon N. Harrison was elected to Grand Conductress by Queen Beatrice Grand Chapter from 2022- Present
• Sis. Ursula K. Williams & Sis. Ashon N. Harrison both served as Grand Lecture for School of Instruction and Sis. Harrison currently hold the position
• In August 2023 Lady Ashon N. Harrison was elected to Chief Counselor of Naomi Council #1 from 2023-Currently
• In May 2024 Daughter Kimberly N. Stokes was elected as Grand Worthy Matron of Alpha Court #7 Daughters of Sphinx currently
